The spine is a complex structure and must support, protect and move the body. Diseases of individual components of the spine often lead to restricted movement, stiffness or movement pain.
Thanks to modern surgical techniques, various diseases of the spine can be operated on without damaging the tissue. Various surgical measures often have to be combined in order to successfully treat the spinal disease. State-of-the-art surgical techniques and implants are available for this purpose.
- Endoscopic/microsurgical disc operations with state-of-the-art optical devices

In order to treat the diseased spine, spinal surgery basically offers the following measures: correcting the position of the spine in the case of curvature (scoliosis), widening the spinal canal or treating a herniated disc (decompression of neural structures) and stiffening individual vertebral bodies (spondylodesis).
Minimally invasive procedures are also increasingly being used in spinal surgery and we are utilising them very successfully. For example, endoscopic disc surgery (keyhole surgery using state-of-the-art optical equipment) or movement-preserving operations such as the complete replacement of an intervertebral disc (disc prosthesis). A disc prosthesis can be used to avoid a fusion operation.
