Your attending physician is obliged to provide you with comprehensive information about examinations, treatment options and interventions. This obligation to provide information only does not apply in emergencies that require immediate action. Planned examinations, procedures and treatments will only be carried out after you have been informed in detail and have given your express consent.

Our staff are subject to a duty of confidentiality (medical professional secrecy). We will only pass on information about your state of health to third parties with your consent or in the cases provided for by law. However, we assume that you consent to the disclosure of information to your carers, pre- and post-treatment doctors and other specialists providing further treatment.

You have the option of naming reference persons yourself. If you do not provide this information, your partner and close relatives will be regarded as reference persons.

Zollikerberg Hospital is legally obliged to compile patient documentation for all patients. This includes information on information, treatment, examinations, diagnoses, therapies and care. The documentation is kept at Zollikerberg Hospital for at least ten years after the last treatment has been completed.

The patient documentation remains the property of Zollikerberg Hospital. However, you have the right to inspect your records and request copies of them. Please note that a fee may be charged for this. You can also request that the original documentation be handed over to you if it is to be destroyed after the statutory retention period has expired.

We actively participate in medical research. When you are admitted to hospital, we will inform you about the use of data and samples for research purposes and ask for your voluntary consent.

We may also ask you whether you are willing to take part in a clinical trial to test new treatment methods or medicines. Medical progress is not possible without the support of patients. We would therefore like to invite you to support our research wherever possible. The knowledge gained will help to improve the care of current and future patients.

Of course, you are free to refuse to participate or to withdraw your consent at any time without this affecting your treatment.
