Endometriosis in focus - information and insights into treatment options

Endometriosis is a common, benign and chronic disease in which tissue that resembles the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, for example in the abdominal cavity or ovary. Around one in ten women of childbearing age is affected. Despite this high number, endometriosis often goes unrecognised and is often diagnosed late. At this free information event, our specialists will discuss the diagnosis of endometriosis and present various treatment options. We look forward to a lively exchange with you and will be happy to answer your questions.

About endometriosis

The exact cause of endometriosis is not fully understood. A combination of genetic and immunological factors is suspected: normal cells transform into endometrial cells and during menstruation the blood flows backwards through the fallopian tubes into the abdominal cavity. These different explanations illustrate the complexity of the disease.

The symptoms of endometriosis are varied and have a considerable impact on quality of life. Typical symptoms include severe menstrual pain and pain during sexual intercourse, bowel movements or urination. The disease can also impair the function of organs and be the cause of an unfulfilled desire to have children.
