Milestone reached in development planning
January 22, 2025
Since the establishment of our Diakoniewerk Neumünster foundation in 1858, we have played a key role in shaping the regional healthcare system with our Zollikerberg hospital, the Magnolia nursing home, our retirement homes and our numerous healthcare services.
To ensure that we continue to fulfil this requirement in the best possible way in the future, we launched the "Development planning for the Diakoniewerk Neumünster site, Zollikerberg" project. We were able to present the winning concept to you in October 2023. As a long-term vision, it shows a possible target state for the structural development of the site.
We are delighted to inform you that we have reached another important milestone in our structural development. The master plan we submitted for the site has been acknowledged and approved by the Zollikon municipal council.
The master plan ensures the careful further development of our operations. The planning of sub-projects can be tackled in line with this.
On the site plan you can see what our site could look like one day. However, it will be years before the actual realisation. Overall, the implementation of the master plan is designed for future generations and is not being developed in a single large step, but in many small steps - always with the aim of continuing to develop our foundation carefully, successfully and in line with requirements, as we have done over the past 167 years.

Nephrolithiasis: everything you need to know about kidney stones at a glance
Kidney stones are a common health problem, affecting up to 10 per cent of the population over the course of a lifetime. If kidney stones migrate into the ureter, they can cause severe colicky pain. If they do not pass spontaneously via the bladder, treatment by a urologist may be necessary. The development of kidney stones is favoured by various factors. In addition to dietary habits and insufficient fluid intake, metabolic disorders can also be the cause in some patients. If kidney stones occur repeatedly or at a young age, further clarification by a nephrologist in a specialised consultation is usually advisable. In this way, possible metabolic disorders can be recognised and treated in a targeted manner in order to reduce the risk of stones forming again.
