Liv Blöchlinger has a very personal connection to Zollikerberg Hospital. Not only does she work here, she was also born here. Now she wants to become a midwife herself and accompany expectant parents on their journey.

Why did you decide to become a healthcare assistant?

I've wanted to help people from a young age, accompany them on their journey and support them. It's important to me to do something social - a job where I can make a difference myself. I've also always been fascinated by medicine and the anatomy of the body.

How did you experience your training as a healthcare assistant? What was nice, what was challenging?

It was three very enjoyable and exciting, but also challenging years. At the same time, I was completing the BMS part-time and therefore always had enough to do. Working was the perfect balance to school and learning. I was able to look after all age groups during my apprenticeship, from small newborns to senior citizens. My absolute highlight was that I was able to witness a child being born by caesarean section in the operating theatre during my internship.

Why did you decide to stay at Zollikerberg Hospital?

I liked the hospital right from the start, the people, the bright workplaces and the atmosphere that the park gives the hospital. I also have a personal connection to Zollikerberg Hospital as I was born here.

What are your plans for the future? Where will your career path take you?

My plan is to become a midwife and to accompany and support expectant mothers and fathers on their journey. I can very well imagine working as a midwife in the delivery room at Zollikerberg Hospital soon.

What do you do in your free time?

I love climbing in nature and often meet up with my friends.

Do you have a morning ritual?

I don't have a real morning ritual. I have breakfast and then get ready for work.

What is your tip for being in a good mood at work?

Having a positive attitude helps a lot to be in a good mood at work. Supporting each other and pulling together is also important to function as a good-humoured team.
