Mammography is an X-ray examination of the mammary gland. It is currently the best method for diagnosing abnormal symptoms. Our radiology department at Zollikerberg Hospital is part of the certified BreastCentre Zurich, Zollikerberg site. Our team will take plenty of time to answer your questions and perform the examination as gently as possible using state-of-the-art mammography equipment.
Mammography can detect very small, not yet palpable nodules or so-called microcalcifications, which are often a preliminary stage of breast cancer. If previous examinations are available, these important images are used for comparison in order to detect changes at an early stage. As mammography shows the three-dimensional breast in two planes, we can use the modern three-dimensional mammography method, digital tomosynthesis, for better diagnostics.
