Prosthetic and other knee joint operations are frequently performed at Zollikerberg Hospital. Wherever possible, minimally invasive techniques are used so that you can return to your normal everyday life soon after the operation. Dr Markos Ioannou, Head of Orthopaedics, and his team also carry out complex operations such as replacement operations after joint replacements have already been performed - in other words, they replace existing artificial joints.

Knee joint prosthetics, i.e. the artificial replacement of the knee joint, is carried out using the latest techniques. Patient-specific techniques are used here. Our specialists also operate with the support of navigation aids and augmented reality.

In addition to prosthetics, Dr Markos Ioannou's team offers the entire spectrum of joint-preserving surgery. Axial corrections, arthroscopies (colloquially known as joint endoscopy) and ligament reconstructions on the knee are standardised and established procedures.
