Lipid consultation

Elevated cholesterol levels often go unnoticed for a long time, but can significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. In our lipid consultation, we specifically clarify lipometabolic disorders and develop an individual treatment strategy together with you - from lifestyle counselling to modern drug therapy.

Who is the lipid clinic intended for?

For patients with:

  • Elevated cholesterol or triglyceride levels
  • Suspected familial or genetic lipid metabolism disorders (e.g. familial hypercholesterolaemia or hypertriglyceridaemia)
  • Persistently elevated lipid levels despite treatment in accordance with guidelines
  • A complex lipid profile or increased cardiovascular risk requiring a specialist assessment

Interdisciplinary service

The consultation is run on an interdisciplinary basis and involves the following specialist disciplines:

Specialised diagnostic investigations – such as genetic testing in cases of suspected familial lipid metabolism disorders or extended cardiovascular risk assessments – are carried out in close collaboration with the Institute of Medical Genetics at the University of Zurich (UZH).
