Consolidation Magnolia
March 14, 2024
We would like to inform you that there will be a merger of departments at the Magnolia residential and care home. From 1 July 2024, only three departments will be in operation instead of four. Magnolia will therefore have a total of 54 places as of 1 July.
Specifically, the dementia ward (Ward A) will be moved to Ward B. The residents in Ward B will find a new home in Wards C and D. This measure was necessary for various reasons. On the one hand, the Health Department of the Canton of Zurich is planning to reduce bed capacity in the Meilen district from 2027; on the other hand, the occupancy rate at the Magnolia residential and nursing home has been declining for several years. Furthermore, the criteria for running dementia departments have been redefined. Some spatial conditions, such as wet rooms in the basement, were deemed inadequate.
In addition, we must comply with the requirements of the canton and the Board of Trustees regarding cost accounting and the principle of economic efficiency, in particular cost coverage.
All employees of Residenz Neumünster Park were informed about these developments at a separate information event on 11 March. It is also important to note that no redundancies will have to be made in the teams due to natural fluctuations and the completion of upcoming temporary assignments. We will manage these transitions with care and professionalism to ensure that our teams remain stable and efficient. The process will also be supported by an interprofessional project team to ensure that the implementation is as appropriate as possible for everyone involved - especially the residents.
