Initial assessment after three months: The Haus zum Falken has proved its worth

Just over three months ago, Zollikerberg Hospital opened its new premises in the Haus zum Falken building at Stadelhofen station. Since then, the Zurich Women’s Emergency Clinic, Zurich Plastic Surgery and the Zollikerberg Breast Centre have been operating under one roof – in a building designed by Santiago Calatrava in the heart of Zurich. The aim of the new site was to bring established medical services together under one roof, to further strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and to offer patients modern, easily accessible outpatient care. Three months after the launch, those in charge are taking stock of the situation.
Frauen-Permanence Zürich: A tried-and-tested service at a new location
The Zurich Women’s Clinic has been established at Stadelhofen railway station for over ten years. With the move to the Haus zum Falken, the tried-and-tested services have been retained at the same location whilst being transferred to a modern facility.
Feedback from patients has been consistently positive. The bright premises, the pleasant atmosphere and the fact that the centre remains very easy to reach are particularly appreciated. At the same time, the physical proximity to the other specialist departments facilitates professional exchange and day-to-day collaboration.

The fact that the team settled into the new premises so quickly. Everything was new to us too in the first few days. Now, our routines have become so well established that we can focus fully on our patients.
2. What do patients particularly appreciate about the new location?
The patients are very impressed by the modern facilities and the significantly more spacious surroundings. At the same time, they are delighted to be able to welcome the team they already know and trust at the new location.

Plastic Surgery Zurich: Modern facilities and convenient access
The opening of Plastic Surgery Zurich at the Haus zum Falken has created a centrally located centre for reconstructive and aesthetic treatments.
As well as excellent accessibility, patients benefit in particular from close collaboration with other medical departments. Joint case discussions and streamlined coordination processes facilitate day-to-day treatment and enable even closer patient care.

1. What has been the most positive surprise for you over the first three months?
I was a bit sceptical at first about the windows in the consultation rooms, but it’s true that nobody can see in. Patients have their privacy. At the same time, both they and our medical staff can enjoy the view outside.
2. What do patients particularly appreciate about the new location?
Our patients very often mention the central location and excellent accessibility. The site, right next to Stadelhofen station, is very easy to reach by public transport and also makes it easier to travel here from other regions. The modern premises, the pleasant atmosphere and the short distances on site are also highly appreciated. Particularly for pre- and post-treatment check-ups, it is a major advantage for many patients to be able to easily fit appointments into their daily routines.

Zollikerberg Breast Centre: Integrated care for patients
The Zollikerberg Breast Centre also benefits from being housed within the Haus zum Falken. Close collaboration with the Plastic Surgery Department and the Zurich Women’s Emergency Clinic enables even better coordinated care – from diagnosis through surgical treatment to aftercare.
Short distances between the specialists involved facilitate communication and create the ideal conditions for comprehensive, patient-centred care.

The short distances are a major advantage. We have the mammography department and our colleagues in gynaecology right here under one roof. This makes collaboration easier and is also very convenient for our patients. Brilliant!
2. What do patients particularly appreciate about the new location?
Patients now come to us from all over the city. We can carry out pre- and post-treatment care directly at Stadelhofen. Our colleagues from the oncology department also have their practice here on site. This means distances are short and patients can receive follow-up care quickly and easily if needed.

The first three months have shown that the Haus zum Falken concept is proving its worth. The combination of a central location, modern infrastructure and close collaboration between the three specialist departments creates the ideal conditions for high-quality outpatient care.
