Stefan Büchi on his project ‘Körperstress’ – Morgen:Rapport
May 14, 2024
Psychiatrist Stefan Büchi explains in an interview why "body stress" is often responsible for complaints such as back pain, dizziness, palpitations or sleep disorders for which no physical cause can be found. Find out more in our podcast.
In this episode of Morgen:Rapport, Stefan Büchi talks to Eliane Pfister Lipp about the topic of "body stress". He emphasises how important it is to take a holistic view of people. Doctors often fail to find physical causes for complaints such as back pain or sleep disorders. This is where Büchi's project comes in. It aims to close the gap in the care of these patients. Around 30% of patients in the healthcare system would not receive the necessary support due to this gap.
"Body stress" should be recognised as a diagnosis in its own right in order to better help the people affected. With his approach, Stefan Büchi wants to change medical practice by strengthening the connection between body and mind. The positive response from GPs already shows that his concept is falling on fertile ground.
