Asking the right questions: Conducting research with, rather than about, patients – Morgen:Rapport

August 4, 2026

In health research, the questions asked often fail to address patients’ needs. One key way to change this is to involve patients and their experiential knowledge more closely in research. Nevertheless, genuine participation is still far from being the norm.

Why is this the case? And what does genuine patient participation in research actually mean? What is the difference between participation and mere token involvement? And what are the implications for our healthcare system?

In the latest ‘Morgen:Rapport’, Joëlle Albrecht (Neumünster Institute) talks to Chantal Britt and Karin van Holten from Bern University of Applied Sciences.
