During a detailed consultation, we will explain the entire procedure to you and clarify any questions you may have. Please refrain from smoking for a fortnight before the operation and from taking painkillers, which can affect blood clotting.

Depending on the extent and location, the operation is performed either under local or general anaesthetic. We insert a cannula through a small skin incision of five millimetres and suck out excess fatty tissue after infiltrating a rinsing solution. If we perform liposuction under local anaesthetic, you may feel pressure, traction and vibrations during the procedure. Once the operation is complete, we will put compression garments on you.

Liposuction is usually performed on an outpatient basis. You may experience swelling in the first few days after liposuction. Please be patient. The swelling in the treated areas will decrease with each passing day. However, it may take a few weeks before the final contour is achieved, as the skin still has to shrink. It is normal for the skin over the liposuctioned areas to appear numb, but this will disappear.

To support the healing process and optimise the result, you should wear compression garments for at least four weeks after the procedure. The stitches in the skin incisions are removed after seven to ten days. Normal exercise is possible in the first few weeks after liposuction, but sporting activities should be suspended for around six weeks. The final result will be visible after about six months. Acute complications are very rare. Nevertheless, as with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks, including bleeding, infection or wound healing disorders. Bruising in particular can be a little annoying at first. The scars after liposuction are usually small and barely noticeable. If the skin over the treated area does not adhere optimally and contracts, slight bumps and dents may occur, which may require corrective surgery. Occasionally, asymmetries may also occur, which can be corrected by a further procedure. We will be happy to discuss the details with you in a detailed consultation.
