Transplant consultation

In the transplant consultation at Zollikerberg Hospital, we assess patients with chronic kidney failure with regard to a possible kidney transplant. The assessment includes an evaluation of medical suitability for a kidney transplant and the individual requirements for the procedure.

If suitable conditions are met, we examine the possibility of a living kidney donation. Potential donors are medically assessed and counselled as part of a structured and comprehensive clarification process.

The kidney transplant itself and the close monitoring in the first year after the transplant take place in a specialised transplant centre, for example at the University Hospital of Zurich, the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen or, by individual arrangement, in another transplant centre in Switzerland.

From the second year after a kidney transplant, we take over the long-term aftercare at Zollikerberg Hospital. Care is provided in close cooperation with the responsible transplant centre in order to ensure continuous and optimal care after the kidney transplant.
