Consultation hours for chronic kidney disease

If kidney disease is suspected due to symptoms or abnormal laboratory findings, we carry out a targeted nephrological assessment. The aim is to clarify the cause and initiate suitable treatment. A one-off nephrology consultation is often sufficient, while further care is provided by the family doctor. In other cases, regular nephrological co-care is necessary. Collaboration with the family doctor is key here.

As a rule, patients with impaired kidney function should be regularly monitored by a nephrologist. The aim is to monitor and treat chronic kidney disease in a structured manner.

We pursue the following goals as part of nephrological care:

• Slowing down the progression of chronic kidney disease through suitable nephroprotective measures
• Treatment of concomitant and secondary diseases such as bone metabolism disorders, anaemia, metabolic acidosis (hyperacidity) and salt and water balance disorders
• Timely and structured preparation for a possible renal replacement procedure (kidney transplant, peritoneal dialysis, home haemodialysis or centre haemodialysis)
