Clinic for Neonatology

A premature birth or a birth with complications can be very stressful and emotionally challenging for you and your baby. Premature and sick newborns are often restless because they suddenly find themselves in a world full of new sounds and stimuli, far removed from the familiar sound environment of the womb.

We understand the challenges you and your child are facing and want to support you. Numerous studies show that music has a calming and positive effect on premature and sick newborn babies. With our music therapy programme, we want to help you and your newborn child to calm down and strengthen your mutual bond with the help of gentle sounds.

The benefits of music therapy for you and your child

  • Calming of breathing and pulse with gentle tones
  • Promotion of the child's perception and brain development
  • Support in building relationships between parents and child
  • Strengthening parents' confidence in their intuitive abilities
  • Improving the quality of life of parents and child

Every Thursday: music therapy for your baby in neonatology

Music therapy is aimed specifically at premature babies and sick newborns who have been hospitalised in the neonatology unit for more than a week. Our music therapist, Stefanie Christen, is in the neonatology department every Thursday from 4.30 to 6.30 pm (or longer if necessary) and is happy to accompany you and your child. If you are interested, please contact your responsible nurse.
