Vaccinations and vaccination counselling for children and adolescents

In our paediatric emergency practice - paediatric permanence at Zollikerberg Hospital - we attach great importance to protection against preventable diseases. Vaccinations are one of the most important and effective measures to protect children from serious infectious diseases. Our experienced team of paediatricians offers comprehensive vaccination advice and carries out all vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss vaccination schedule of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).

Our range of vaccinations

Basic vaccinations

  • We carry out all the basic vaccinations provided for in the Swiss vaccination schedule, e.g. diphtheria, tetanus, haemophilus, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B and pneumococcus. Of course, we also offer other basic immunisations against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMR (& V)).
  • It is currently recommended that infants be vaccinated against seasonal RSV infections. We also offer this vaccination for infants.

Supplementary vaccinations

We offer additional vaccinations for specific risk factors, e.g. against HPV in adolescents, flu (influenza), rotavirus (oral vaccination), meningococcal group B and additional vaccinations such as hepatitis A on request.

Travel vaccinations

  • For families travelling abroad with their children, we can advise on the necessary travel vaccinations and carry them out (except for yellow fever). Please state explicitly when registering if you require travel vaccinations.

Personal counselling

  • We will provide you with comprehensive information about the benefits, side effects and the right time for each vaccination. We take your child's health and individual situation into account.

With attention and distraction, immunisation is usually possible without any problems. For exceptionally anxious and "traumatised" children, the vaccination can exceptionally be carried out under nitrous oxide.

Swiss immunisation schedule

Our immunisations follow the recommendations of the FOPH, which are regularly updated to ensure optimum protection for children and adolescents.

Coverage of vaccination costs

Compulsory health insurance generally covers the recommended basic vaccinations, supplementary vaccinations and vaccinations for groups with an increased risk of exposure or complications (provided the chosen deductible has already been reached).

As part of cantonal programmes, the costs of vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) are covered and no deductible is charged. The vaccination is therefore free of charge for all adolescents and young adults.
