Tests (hearing test & eye test)

We carry out various tests based on the recommendations of the Swiss Society of Paediatrics as part of preventive examinations and for specific questions.

Eye tests

We use various eye charts to test your child's vision, which are specially adapted to their age. Regular eye tests can provide early indications of defective vision or other visual problems and are an important part of preventive check-ups.

Hearing tests

We assess hearing using audiometry, which, due to the need for cooperation, is possible in children from around the age of four. We can also assess the mobility of the eardrum – which is important for sound transmission – using tympanometry. This test is particularly useful in cases of symptoms such as ear pressure or reduced hearing following infections.

Otoacoustic emissions are routinely carried out on newborns during the postnatal period to enable the early detection of rare, congenital inner-ear hearing loss. If necessary, we also offer this test at our paediatric emergency clinic, as it cannot be carried out in most paediatricians’ practices.
