Tests (hearing test, eye test, lung function test)

We carry out various tests based on the recommendations of the Swiss Society of Paediatrics as part of preventive examinations and for specific questions.

Eye tests

We use various eye charts to test your child's eyesight, which are specially adapted to their age. Regular eye tests can provide early indications of defective vision or other visual problems and are an important part of preventive check-ups.

Hearing tests

We test hearing using audiometry, which is possible for children from around the age of four. We can also test the mobility of the eardrum, which is important for sound transmission, using tympanometry. This examination is particularly helpful for symptoms such as ear pressure or reduced hearing after infections.

Otoacoustic emissions are routinely carried out on newborns in the puerperium for the early detection of rare, congenital sensorineural hearing loss. If required, we also offer this examination in our paediatric clinic, as it cannot be carried out in most paediatricians' practices.

Lung function tests

If you have breathing problems such as asthma, we check your lung function using spirometry (lung function test). This test makes it possible to diagnose various lung diseases. If the results require further investigation, we will refer you and your child to a lung specialist. As a rule, however, this is only rarely necessary.
